Vintage Kids books
Heres a collection of illustrations from some vintage books i've picked up recently from the charity shops. I always loved Playschool, Jemima was my favourite! I love the busy aspect of the kids illustrations. So much going on, so much to see.
Boyswear
I think the discussion of boyswear is something that is going to pop up quite frequently on my blog. Infact I can see Dilly Foxtrot becoming more boyswear led as there is a severe neglect and disinterest in this area of kidswear. As I research, you see the same discontent comments from fashion interested mums with boys, disappointed at the lack of choice. There are a few brands recently that i've come across that have a great boys range and will feature shortly. But to keep you going here is an image i've had for some timefrom junior Magazine, but it features the coolest of boys!
A Selection of Vintage illustrations
It was my birthday recently and I was given so many gorgeous gifts, most of the vintage variety. Here are a selection of illustrations from a 1975 Jackie Magazine, cards and books. Fantastic colours and style!

Amazing paper craft via How about Orange blog
My apologies for the severe lack of blogging, I promise to rectify this from now on! Since we are now heading towards Christmas, my favourite time of year! I thought i'd share this great post via http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-make-3d-paper-ball-ornaments.html
I love 3D paper things. Love. And when I saw a little picture of what appeared to be paper balls in a CB2 catalog, I thought, "I am going to make those."
So the other day while Alex was writing a paper about mysterious things like polymers and flexible films and tactoids, I made a paper ball. Then I proudly announced I had created a tactoid and it was sitting on my desk. He giggled. Apparently a tactoid is not a paper ball.
These are made from 12 slotted flower shapes that fit together to form a sphere. No adhesive needed; the only ingredient is paper. I made a template in Illustrator and cut out the shapes with my Silhouette machine (directly from Illustrator using a plug-in), but you could also print out the pages and cut by hand, too.
Download the PDF templates here:
Large ball (10")– print/cut 12 sheets
Medium ball (5")– print/cut 2 sheets
Small ball (3")– print/cut 1 sheet
Download a Silhouette .studio file here:
Small ball (3")– unzip the file; cut 1 sheet
Use the slits to join petals together. Keep adding shapes, connecting as you go, so that every petal is connected to another on the neighboring flower.
If you want to hang your ornament, you might like to add the string before assembling the ball. I placed a piece of tape on the back of one flower so the hole wouldn't tear, then used a needle to pull string through, forming a loop on the front side. I taped down the ends on the back side to secure it.

The colored balls are made from regular-weight computer paper (Astrobright from Office Max) and the white balls are made with cardstock. The big sphere is the size of a basketball; the little one is approximately a baseball. And the medium-sized guy is maybe a large grapefruit.

Getting nowhere!!!
I'm not sure where the time goes, I just don't seem to be able to get anything done! Christmas is creeping, crocheting pile is getting higher, craft fairs are looming, Spring Summer 2012 is launching and i'm no further forward! Poor old Dilly Foxtrot is becoming somewhat slack, so i'm going to do a quick fire round of great things i've found and some super cute Japanese fashion!

Dino e Lucia
This Parisian brand manage to blend sophistication and lightheartedness, if thats a word! The Autumn Winter range is beautiful. Offering an everyday range and an occasion range. The everyday range features fabrics such as wool and more on-trend styling. Whereas the occasion range is very much in the luxury market with silk, chiffon, ruffles, sequins and embroidery. It is all very pretty and as I said previously, sophisticated. However, it still remains childlike and not at all 'stuffy' or conservative. The photos from the lookbook are fun and romantic with a magical element. Images courtesy of http://www.boutique-dinoelucia.com/

LIHO
LIHO is a designer childrenswear brand created in London. A sophisticated range with tailored aspects and a nod to vintage styling. Lovely detailing for both boys and girls. I can see this brand being a definite influence within the childrenswear market. AW11 Images courtesy of http://www.liho.co.uk/

Alice in Wonderland party
Well all the crafts and decorations have been put away, the party was great fun for all involved. Now i'll be able to get on with the big list of crocheting and blogging again. There are so many gorgeous things out there that Dilly needs to be investigating, plus her little ventures! So here is a little peek at the party.
