Dot to Dot

Here at Dilly Foxtrot we constantly have our eyes open and our ears to the ground, seeking out new and exciting childrenswear to show you.  Many of these brands are from different parts of the world, so it is very exciting to bring you news of homegrown talent.  

I recently received an invitation from lovely British brand Little Troll for a new buyer/press event called Dot to Dot.  Based at the V&A Museum of Childhood, it is a new showroom for independent children's brands founded by Nicole Frobusch (Nixie Clothing) and Carly Gledhill (Corby Tindersticks).  Allowing like-minded small companies to showcase their AW14 collections in a relaxed environment and therefore flying the flag for British Independent design for kids and families. 

It is an invite only event, however, there are lots of interviews over on the website from all the exhibitors, many of which are firm favorites of ours.   We are really sad we are not going to make it down to see everyone, but we wish everyone a great show!  (We are sure it will be with such talent and forward thinking design on show)

Summer Returns

It is officially Summer here in the UK and after a very rainy week the sun returned, so we sandalled up and headed to town to our favourite café for ice-cream milkshakes.   We had a really lovely walk into the city, playing pooh sticks by the weir and I showed the kids how to make daisy chains.  I love easy, chilled out days.  

It was also an excuse to try out my lovely new 'Corby Tindersticks' bag, which I won via the gorgeous Children's Lifestyle Blog Bobby Rabbit (Click on the link and have a look, it is really beautiful blog full of amazing ideas/products)  Along with the bag I won a print and a doll.....Barry Bags!  I was so excited, as were my girls and old Barry Bags has settled in very well making great friends with Nanuq the eskino (Designed by Jane Foster for Clothkits)!

Fleur was showcasing a little vintage number that our extremely talented friend JoJo Nouveau gave us some years ago and finally it fits!  A beautiful jersey dress with cross strap fastening, circle skirt and lace hem trim. We teamed it with a pink all over cherry print Tee from H&M ( given to us yesterday from a friend) and finally our daisy/buttercup chain crown....she looked super sweet!

Finally, I spotted these bags in a shop window and really loved the quirky illustrations....Moschino Cheap & Chic range, quite cute don't you think?

Corby Tindersticks Part 2

It was a lovely warm sunny day so we decided to throw on our gorgeous Corby Tindersticks outfits, pack a picnic basket and a few of  favourite toys before heading into the garden.  It was a fun day of lounging about on the blanket, listening to the radio, reading Twinkle annuals and feasting on our delicious picnic.  Plus a bit of skateboarding thrown in for good measure! 

The kids and I love the Corby Tindersticks range.  The kids favour the  feel of the fabric and the ease of wearing the garments as well as the quirky graphics, but what I really love is the detailing.  The appliqués,  the label, the topstiching, the racer back styling - all these aspects make a great garment.  I also love the quirky illustrations, that really are the foundation of this Label and offer a range of toys with these characters, so click on the named link above and check out the whole range.
