Blogging with a conscience

I struggle with my conscience quite a lot.  I'm not sure if it is being a mum to small children or the current economic/political climate or both!  I have spoken about this previously, it just seems futile to blog about clothing and consuming when so many people are struggling.  I have put off writing about so many products because the price tag is quite frankly vulgar, especially for childrenswear, therefore, I have been trying to bring you economical/recycling projects that make new of something old.  It's not exactly a revolution, but it is a start in the right direction!

So this weekend is Glastonbury (A huge music festival here in Glastonbury, England) and with it comes its own fashion style.....generally a nod to the bohemian.  I had a dress I no longer wore, so I made a playsuit out of it for Fleur.  I basically crossed the front, took a bit out of the back, crossed over the straps and created a pair of shorts out of the skirt....teamed it up with beads, wellies, a headband and hey presto!  Festival Chic!

What do you think?  How do you feel?  Do you sometimes think you should use your creativity for a more worthwhile cause?  I'd love to hear from you.

Making something out of nothing!

Finally, I have managed to do another little diy project for you!  It is one that I have had in mind for sometime and it is a great one to do with the children as it is so simple.  It is again down the route of recycling and upcycling, creating something new out of something that no longer has a use.  Follow the photographic steps and create your own little softie.  I'd love to know how you got on.
